Flex Matrix: A Parametric Search on Steroids
Utilizing an emerging technology, Adobe® Flex™ 3.2, New Angle Media offers an innovative application that enables efficient and dynamic search capabilities for complex products, services or other items. The application works by first loading many items into a navigable window. Next, the user is given a panel of options to select specific attributes that meet the requirements of what they are searching. Each time the user selects an option, the pool of matching items effectively drills down the results leaving only applicable items. Each new subset of results is returned instantaneously without loading new pages or connecting again to the database. Hence, search time is greatly reduced and the search experience optimized. Once all criteria has been selected from the panel of options, items can then be expanded to display all specifications, images, links, etc. associated with that item.
