New Angle Media Honored by American Diabetes Association

New Angle Media (www.newanglemedia.com), an interactive marketing agency, was honored by the American Diabetes Association (ADA) for its active support and ongoing commitment to fighting diabetes.

Business Development Director and Partner Steve Roberts was presented with a plaque Dec. 3 at the ADA Valley of the Sun Leadership Council meeting. New Angle Media, based in Phoenix, is the only Valley company to receive the 2007 Commitment Award.

“The devastations associated with diabetes has touched us all in the office,” said Roberts. “As a company, we are committed to aiding the community in its fight against the disease, and we will continue to do so in the future.”

New Angle Media (www.newanglemedia.com) has supported the Phoenix chapter of the ADA for the past three years. The company, which specializes in online video, has directed and produced three videos for the non-profit to promote its annual walk, expo and Father of the Year program.

Roberts, a Glendale esident, and New Angle Media Account Manager Bruce Cuddy sit on the ADA Valley of the Sun Leadership Council. Roberts also chairs the ADA Marketing and PR Committee, which is currently gearing up for the Diabetes EXPO, a tradeshow at the Phoenix Civic Center in April for people affected by diabetes and anyone interested in healthy eating and active living.

Cuddy, a Peoria resident, recently received the ADA’s highest honor for individual volunteer efforts. The 2007 Outstanding Leadership Award was awarded to three people among thousands of ADA volunteers nationwide. During the past 20 years, Cuddy fulfilled numerous roles for the ADA in Arizona and California, which include fund-raising efforts and event coordination.

About Diabetes

Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. The cause of diabetes is unknown, although both genetics and environmental factors such as obesity and lack of exercise appear to play roles. There are 20.8 million children and adults in the United States, or 7 percent of the population, who have diabetes. While an estimated 14.6 million have been diagnosed with diabetes, 6.2 million people (or nearly one-third) are unaware that they have the disease.
